Take a look around you…

Everything speaks in rhythms and we are constantly changing. To believe you are going to be one person, one identity for the rest of your life is a fucking joke. I will not live by that, in fact I can’t live by that. I am just not wired that way.

I have struggled my entire life trying to find one identity, one label, to glue to myself. A riddle that I thought I would never be able to solve. Too curious to sit still and too afraid to get stuck in a moment. I finally understand why I am like this and nature serves as my guide to feel comfortable in the ebb and flow of my identity. We are ever changing. Like seasons. Like the elements. Like getting wrinkly… Identity is not a destination, it’s about feeling good. Right here. Right now. In this moment.

How do we do that? How do we stay present with our goals and honor the tides of our emotions and existence? Well, we turn to nature. To silence. To the elements. To the seasons. To the lunar cycle.

WTF Is A Moon Journal?

Moon journaling is a fun way to support your multidimensional existence. The daily/monthly/infinite evolution of your mind, body, spirit, and emotions. Society is designed to make you feel like you need to be/do/feel the same everyday… if not… you’re emotional, unstable, and inconsistent. In reality, we are a different person everyday.

Benefits Of Moon Journaling

  • Get in contact with your emotions and develop your intuition.

    • We are torn away from our emotions starting at such a young age. So much so, that in today’s day and age most of us do not understand our emotions. Most of us consume and over induldge to suppress our emotions. Moon journaling fosters the space to reconnect with emotions.

  • Honor and redefine your self care.

    • Once you understand the ebb and flow of your emotions you then get to clearly define words and actions of self love that fit your unique dreams and desires. Which makes creating boundaries a lot easier. We get to see and understand themes each month, that happen at a similar time during each lunar cycle.

  • Feel and HEAR your spirit.

    • Spirit is joy and love always. When we use the phases of the moon we get to follow our internal guide. When we honor that voice, we then get to feel something bigger than us.

  • Better our food relationships.

    • Following the lunar phases allows us to tap into what is local and seasonally available. It opens the door of creativity when in your kitchen, and alleviates stress. When we are stressed about what we are eating or before we eat, our bodies do not absorb proper nutrients. So eating/cooking in an intentional manner allows you to reframe how to nourish your body.

Step 1: Moon Calendar & Phase Skeleton

Like a normal planner, I like to start with writing down important dates and plan out the month ahead… But in this case, I plan out the lunar transit. Depending on where you are on this floating rock, the lunar cycle will differ. Each moon cycle is roughly 29.5 days and consists of 4 major moon phases: New Moon, First Quarter, Full moon, Last Quarter. Each lunar living baddie has their own system and I base my coaching and life around the 8 phases so I can remain as consistent as possible. This is just what works for me. These are all preferences so keep in mind everything you do doesn’t have to be so precise to be effective. You just have to be unconditionally present and intentional

I use this moon calendar to write our the lunar transit for the month, and have been using it for years. Other people have apps and others use different websites… pick your poison.

In my journal each phase consists of 5 major sections: what to eat, tools, journal, an activity, and oracle/tarot spread learn more below…

New Moon

The beginning of the cycle… a time for fresh starts and new intentions.

I kick off the phase with what food I am craving, colors I am craving, what is seasonally available, and what I would like to get from my food. From there a moon eating menu is designed. This has completely healed my relationship with food. Moon eating has allowed me to connect with food through a multi dimensional way.

Next, I write down my new moon tools: crystals, herbs, oils, chakra blockages, colors to consume, colors to wear… etc.

Journals: Start by clearing my mind… Then I write down any new intention, I fill our my “circle of life worksheet”, check in with where I currently feel a bit stuck, and what it is I would like to manifest.

Activity: Now is the perfect time for a vision board… you can use magazines and print outs or work digitally… I work with both mediums and love to set my vision board as my wallpaper on my phone and leave one in the physical space where I can see it.

I end with an oracle/tarot spread to receive additional messages from my guide or my spirit.

Waxing Moon (3 Phases: Crescent, First Quarter, Gibbous)

Waxing Moon is all about rooting our intentions and taking inspired action. As the moon gets bigger so does our energy supply.

Tools (see above)

Journal:

  • What is going well?

  • What do you feel excited about?

  • What do you want to let go?

  • What could possible hold you back/identify a limiting belief?

  • What is a core feeling that you want to focus on?

Activity: Brain Dump— this moon is about inspired action… good time to write down any and all ideas, themes, inspiration, collaborations, proposals. Remember you don’t have to do everything, only the things that really scream to you.

Daily Worksheet: I normally check in through journal day and night to see:

Morning:

  • What I am grateful for.

  • What I feel excited about in my day.

  • Possible obstacles/triggers: things to do to ground.

  • My core intentional feeling.

Night:

  • What went well

  • What could have gone better

  • What will I do tomorrow to be a better version/more aligned.

Oracle/Tarot Spread: I pull a card a day and reflect on this in my daily worksheet. I’ll do this at whatever time I feel called to.

Full moon

Releasing and receiving. Let go of what has been holding your ass back so you can fuly relieve your intentions of manifesting. Our intentions can take several moon cycles… but each one helps us let go of limiting beliefs, people, things, ideas… and help you step into your new reality.

Food (see above)

Tools (see above)

Journal:

  • Full on brain vomit. Write our anything on your mind. Emotions are heightened lets reveal them.

  • DO NOT FORGET TO CELEBRATE. Around the full moon we often focus all of our attention on the things we did not accomplish. Lean into and celebrate all that you have done. Write a list and practice gratitude.

Activity: let go and receive. What has been coming up, what do you want the full mooon to amplify, what do you want it to release. Meditate on this, then write out any behaviors, responses, triggers, people, ideas that prevented you from being who/what you want. Burn the list under the full moon in a fire safe bowl, and then create a gratitude list for all that you are and all you have done.

Oracle/Tarot Spread: This is something I do apart of my full moon ritual.

Waning Moon (3 Phases: Gibbous, Last Quarter, and Crescent)

Enjoy what has been brought forward during the lunar cycle. Energy can be low, focus on healing and letting go. Rest and take stock/ clean your space and your mind.

Tools (see above)

Journal:

  • Reflect on the lunar cycle and write out any ideas for making space for yourself?

  • What movies really inspire creativity for me?

  • How do I show myself love?

  • How do I want to be loved?

Activity: Clean Your House Cochina. Daily chore checklist, deep cleaning checklist, energetic clearing of your home.

Daily Worksheet: I write in morning and night to honor this resting period.

Morning:

  • Grateful for:

  • What is one thing I love about myself.

  • What is a small thing I can do to romanticize my morning?

  • Where are my energy levels?

Night:

  • How can I honor this resting period?

  • What went well today?

  • What could have gone better?

  • Affirmations to show myself love.
